There are a few tell tale signs that a home was built in the 1980’s and this home had them all. Drywall dust ledges (check), skylights (check), paneled ceiling tube lights (check), very little storage (check), golden oak cabinetry (check), a bathroom vanity in the primary bedroom (check), poor insulation (and- check!)
What this home also has is a beautiful view. Our clients saw past the green carpet and the crazy drywall and saw the beautiful view out of their kitchen window and back yard that East Highland is known for.
Our goal for this project was a full remodel to update all of the finishes, right down to the door hinges, simplify the walls and ceilings to remove drywall shelves, increase storage, and give this sweet family a bathroom door in their primary bedroom. In honor of the budget, we kept the utilities and footprint intact with the exception of the primary bathroom. The primary bathroom was a full remodel to make use of every last square inch. In the primary bedroom, we removed the unfunctional closet and designed a built in custom closet system to maximize storage. The kitchen was fully customized and the layout was reconfigured, while maintaining the utility locations, to include a built-in pantry, an appliance garage with pocket doors, and an island for storage and workspace. The secondary bathroom was also remodeled with a walk-in shower. New flooring, millwork and paint throughout completed this project.
Project Scope: Full service interior design to include: interior architecture design, lighting and electrical plans, kitchen remodel, primary bathroom remodel, secondary bathroom remodel, primary bedroom closet, built-in hallway utility and linen cabinets, exterior door, all millwork, flooring, and paint.
